MY SUNDAY STORY

Dear Mom and Dad,
Ya' things are going well. This might be a short email because we are here in Rimini with Anz Zanni for p-day and we gotta bounce soon so sorry! But ya overall things are OK. Anz Winegar is a baller. He helps me out so much! Especially when i wanna be a bum and things don't go the way we want he always helps me out and keeps my head up! I love him, he really is super great!

And to answer your question yes, I do know Anz Lehnardt. He is chill. In fact we did a scambio!!! Last Friday to Saturday he came down to Ravenna . It was great. He is a chill kid, we had fun! He is super lucky because he is living with Dunshee!!! I'd kill to do that! ha ha ya Anz Cluff went home. Sad. You never know the reason why and it's better not to judge them. The mission isn't the easiest thing ever, I can understand why some people would wanna go home but in the long run I think it's better just to stick it out!

I heard about the Miami Heat. That's so sick!!!! I wish I could be watching it too!!! ha ha

I just read Alma 5 yesterday in my personal study. That's where i am too! So we are reading the same thing! Cool! It is a great chapter. Really powerful and straight forward!

But you know me, I always got at least one sad story a week! ha ha So do you wanna hear this one?! I hope so 'cause I'm gonna tell you it! So Sunday rolls around and after church we only had one lesson around 5 or so. So we show up for it and there was no one there. Bummer #1. So we were like dang we got all day to do finding work that kinda stinks. So I call up this member to see how this other member was doing because he was supposed to go visit him because he was having a hard time. I call him and he tells me that he wasn't able to go over and see him. I get this great idea for us to go visit him! The only problem is that he lives like 25km or so  away. We talked about it and decided to hop on our bikes and take off out there because we had enough time to do it. We end up getting out there and we knock on his door and .... nothing.....bummer #2. He wasn't there and wouldn't answer our calls. So we are like OK whatever lets ride home now. No joke, as soon as we start riding bummer #3 happens.... can you guess what happens?.... My bike tire pops!!!!!! It was not fun, at all!!!! So to make an even longer story short, we had to walk all that way home, it was terrible, really terrible!!!!!! My legs were killing me and my butt hurt and just everything hurt.!!!! ha ha The mission would be way to easy if everything went the way we wanted! Thankfully my comp is a baller and helped me keep my chin up that day. Well ya there is my "fun" story for the day. ha ha

But seriously, things are going well! We are doing our best! I know the Lord will do the rest if we do our best! But i really gotta go! Still gotta write pres! ha ha

I hope you guys have a great week!!! Be happy and never forget to smile!!! ha ha I love you guys so much and am so thankful for you ! have a great week! take care!!!!

love anziano bona

ps.... I heard about Zio Pino comin down... I don't know if we will be able to do anything though.... we will see

Wednesday May 25 th - CONVERSION

Dear Mom and Dad!
It sounds like you guys had a great week! Well at least a good weekend. That makes me so happy! It sounds like Stake Conference was the bomb!!! That's so cool. President Warner really is something special. He is a great man. He really is called from God! I didn't even know there was a Saturday night session of stake conference? Wow that shows you how much I paid attention before my mission!!! hahahaha. I'm glad you guys were able to go and to get so much out of it! That really is great and how it should be!

That's cool how they talked about conversion and how it's a life long thing, because Monday we had a leadership training meeting in Modena and they talked about the gospel of Christ! OK quiz.... think real hard! Do you know what it is!?!?!

Don't cheat don't go looking through the scriptures! Hopefully you got it! If not then you know what you need to study ;) ha ha They talked about how it's a cycle. How we 1st: start with faith in Jesus Christ. this faith brings us to the next step. 2nd: is repentance. After we repent we become eligible for the next step. 3rd: is baptism by immersion for the remission of our sins. 4th: is receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. and last but not least is the 5th step: (which for me is the hardest) enduring to the end.

But they just talked about how it was a never ending cycle and how we keep going through it over and over again! We were taught about change and how it's a painful thing but in the end so worth it and how we grow so much through it! It really is so true. This training meeting totally changed my life! It was so great.

Ya lately has been pretty rough. Things haven't gone how we've planned with some investigators and not a whole lot of people have wanted to listen to us! And now its getting hotter (today was 90 degrees plus humidity!!!!) which just makes me cranky! ha ha Man we sweat so much it's nuts! Like yesterday we had no appointments and all of our members are at the temple this week so there was no one to visit so it was a whole day of finding work and no one let us in! But it was totally OK. We did get a few appointments set and a few numbers but nothing fancy. But its OK 'cause that meeting just totally changed my perceptions on things. It really was great. And I'm so happy cause there is another one next Tuesday!

I'm glad Aubrey's reception went well! Man it's so weird how everyone is getting married! ha ha So funny! But good for all of them.

So guess what we  did today for pday! We went to see Zio Nicola! It was great! Zia Graziella cooks like a goddess!!!!! I love it! ha ha She made lasagna! :) Don't be jealous now! ha ha But ya' it was pretty chill.

But ya overall things here are going well! We are doing our best. I'm honest I'm far from perfect. there are a lot of things I still need to change! But I try. I try to be obedient and positive. I do my best. But that's why I love my comp! He is super chill. ha ha He just makes me laugh! And we love eating gelato together so that's always fun too! So basically all is well... but ya you should email Beau and Coulton they would love to hear from you!

I hope you guys have such a great week! lLt me know about sports!!!! Whats going on!!! You have no idea how tempting it is to go to espn.com to check it out!!!!! But don't worry I wont! ha ha:)

Well I love you guys so so much!!! Have a great week!
vi voglio un sacco di bene!!!!

MISSIONS ARE HARD AND SACRIFICES-THANK YOU DAD!

Dear Mom and Dad,
Well first off I will let you guys know about transfers: nothing special. We are staying the same. I'm not going anywhere and neither is Anz Winegar. So that's pretty chill! Sounds like the sports world is crazy! Man I miss it so much.... it's always so tempting to check it out!!! ha ha but I don't.... it will all be there when I get back so it's OK!

It is so cool mom that you went to my friends wedding reception! Super weird at the same time but it's OK if they're happy then that's what matters! Give Aubrey and Andrew my best wishes! Good for them! It is so cool that you are going to your friends sealing! That is so special! It really is what it is all about: making it to the temple so we can be sealed for time and all eternity. Man I just love thinking about that! :) it makes me so happy!!!

Everything in the apartment is now fixed.... finally!!! Gosh dang... it was so stressful.... just more stuff that I really didn't wanna worry about! But I had to! ha ha! Now stuff is much better finally, but the work has been super rough lately.... We have been working hard but we have not been able to see much good fruits... Ik is a nice guy but basically he still has some issues with some things and doesn't wanna make the necessary changes... oh well it happens, we can only do our part! Now we are teaching this guy named Eddy. He is the referral from Columbus. He is a chill guy. We only get to see him once a week though so it's hard to see a lot of progress but it's OK. He seems really bravo so I guess we will just find out and see.

Dad guess what?..... I love you :) You are great. For real! Kids growing up need more than just a parent. They need a friend and that's what you were for me and I loved it! I was pretty dumb sometimes but you were always there when I needed it and that's what matters the most. Honestly I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same way out here sometimes.

Honestly these last 2 weeks have been pretty hard for me. I haven't been on my A- game. The work has been hard. No one wants to listen to us. I'm tired as well!!!! It doesn't matter how much I sleep or whatever, I always feel tired. I miss home too and I've just been like super stressed to the max lately!!! There is so much stuff for us to do and so little time to do it, and when there is time to do it I feel so inadequate to do it. T

he last district meeting we had I decided to talk about trials because that's what I needed. It was really good and the meeting went well. When I reflect about all of these hard times in life I realize that they are really for our good! I'm just like you dude! I ask why!?!?! Why me? I don't want to deal with all this "stress" and stuff. The thing is that we don't need to know why us. The Lord gives us these hard times because He loves us and wants us to grow. It is so hard, trust me I know!! ha ha I wish I could just grow and learn without all these hard times but we can't! We need to be tried!

One thing I've realized since I've been out here is how great of a sacrifice it was for you and mom to go to America and literally just start over with your lives. You gave up everything for me and Brian. For that I really am eternally grateful. Thank you so so much!!!!! You have no idea how much it means to me. That was literally Christlike love that you showed for me and Brian. Giving up everything for someone else without really asking for anything in return. So thank you so much. Brian is still young and probably doesn't understand as much as I do. I just wanna say thanks! I love you!!!! Be happy!!!! You really do have so much to be proud of. No need to compare yourself to other people. In Gods eye's we are all the same. Who cares if someone has a big house or what not!!! Are they gonna be taking that with them in the next life?!?! I think not!!!!! ha ha That's why all we need to worry about is the family. That is something that you and mom did super well!!! That's what matters!!! :)

I think we all just need to pick our heads up a bit and be thankful for what we have. It's one of the hardest things to do but it's what everyone needs to do as well.

Mom I loved the little thought you shared. I loved it a lot! It's true. and I love that scripture in Matthew. It lets us know that God never leaves us alone. His angels are always here by our sides helping us through our hard times. It's something we need to keep in mind!

We are looking forward to our work and we have a lot of finding work in the future ahead of us!!! Not easy but we are gonna make the best of it!!! As I said, we just need to keep our heads up and do the best we can..the rest will be OK!

Thank you guys for the email. It's so crazy that Brian finishes elementary school next week! What a little stud!! I love that kid :) ha ha I love you guys so much and am thankful for your guys example and love and prayers. They really do help!

San Marino last p-day was chill. Today I think we are gonna go look at some mosaic's or something like that. Not sure. Maybe we will just take a nap!

Well I'll let you guys go now!!! Keep me updated on the sports! ;) I love you guys so so much and can't wait to hear from you all next week!!! bye bye!!! :) May God bless you!

Love Anziano Bona

PS.... I did a scambio with Anz Dunshee last week and he got my package when he was in Milan!! :) So i got your packages, just letting you guys know!!! ha ha love you guys have a great week!

MOTHER'S DAY PHONE CALL

Anz Bona called on Mother's Day. We had the opportunity to talk to him for almost an hour. It was so nice. We were hoping to be able to Skype with him...but it didn't happen. At first I was disappointed because I really wanted to see him, not just hear him. But then when we knew the reason why it made it much easier.
It is against mission rules to use memebers computers and the place where they go to email does have Skype, however, they would have had to pay for the internet usage, and since Mother's Day was on Sunday, they wanted to keep the Sabbath Day, and not have to purchase/pay for something, So as a compaionship they decided on phone calls only. How can you be upset after that reasoning. Especially when we have been telling Anz Bona how important obedience is.
Anyway...it was so good to talk with him. He and Anz Winegar are doing well. The work is going forward and they are doing their best.
He has had the chance to see his Uncle and family a few times as well and that has been nice too.
He sends his love to all his friends and hopes they are all well.
He feels blessed to be serving a mission and loves Italy and the people.

BIDE', FLOODS, AND MIRACLES???

Dear Mom and Dad,

yup yup yup It was pretty sweet talking to you guys on Sunday!! I loved it!!! It just makes me sad knowing I gotta wait a whole 7 months 'till I get to talk to you guys again!! Oh well it'll be worth the wait!! But ya not a whole much to talk about, but these last 2 days have been interesting.

Wanna hear my story? I sure hope so 'cause I'm gonna tell you it!!!

OK so it starts like a week ago or so. We find out that there is a leak in our bide'. ha ha So we call people to come over and fix it and they tell us that it's actually the pipes in the wall that are leaking so they said that they are gonna need to go in there and just destroy our whole bathroom basically. So Monday they came over and started working on it. It took 10 hours for them to do it!!!

We had to cancel 2 huge appointments, and we were about to have to cancel another one but then I was all, we cant miss this one we gotta say a prayer to help them finish fast! So we went in our study room and prayed and when we came out they were gone!! It was a miracle, or so we thought!!!! ha ha and it kinda was cause we were able to go out and teach Ik an amazing lesson and get things back on track with him!

But the problem was. that we were looking at the stuff thry did and we realized that they didn't finish! And they just left all their cement stuff everywhere! So our house was a complete mess! And they ended up having to go through the wall so we couldn't use our sink or our washer either! So all we had that worked that had water was our shower! . Oh well right.  So we thought they'd just come over the next morning to finish up the work. So Tuesday morning we wake up and go look at all the stuff where they were working and we noticed a puddle and also that 1/2 of the cement had fallen off and hadn't worked!! So they came over and started looking at the stuff and told us that they have to come destroy everything again and even destroy more then the first time!!! So we like waited for them all day yesterday to come back and start working on our stuff but they never came! I called them like 5 times and nothing. We wasted so so much time these last 2 days and nothing has been fixed :( which means we are gonna have to waste more time another day when they come to fix it.... so until then we are without a sink and without a washer and our house is completely filthy!!!

So last night around 730 we are like, well lets go to church because there is an activity going on and our branch pres wants us there. Anz Winegar is like hey I'm gonna try to do some laundry cause I'm out of white clothes. I told him I wouldn't cause the water will just get everywhere. So he like rigged it kinda funky so all the water would go into this bucket and he was like there it'll work! So we left and went and did our thing. When we got back guess what was waiting for us? yup you guessed it!!! A flooded apartment!!!! ha ha ya!!!! I was so happy last night!! ha ha Man it was funny we laughed so hard and said that it was just our luck. so we turned on some musice and started cleaning up!!! ha ha so ya it's been an eventful couple of days!!!

We weren't able to see Cristian but we are hoping to see him next week. We did have a great lesson with Ik though. Ya he is still down with baptism :) I think we are pushing it back till June 4th though. But that's OK at least he is still down!! :) That was our great miracle these past few days.

But ya we are in Rimini right now and we are heading to San Marino in a little bit!!! yay I'm exited for that!!  It'll be fun!

That's super cool about Brian and Talon! They are good friends! And I hope you guys know I was playing about the mini cooper! Of course I want one they are super sick!!! I've seen so many nice ones here!!! But of course I also know I'm not gonna get one! That would be too crazy!! The scooter works for me :) ha ha but ya I still got 10 months till I get home so we don't need to worry about that for now! ha ha

And mom, it's OK, no one is perfect! The thing is is to do our best and at least try :) That's what the Lord wants from us!

But hey I gotta bounce we are just about to head out!!! Thanks for everything! I'll catch you guys up more on everything else next time!!! Take care I love you guys so so much!!! Tell Brian sorry I don't really don't have time to write him because I still need to write Pres Wolfgramm!!! Tell him I'll write him next week for sure!! I love you Brian! :)

I love you guys so much I hope you guys have a great week! :)

SHORT ONE!

Hey Mom and Dad!!
Wow no way the shuttle didn't go off again!? Bummer, that's just dads luck huh?! ;) ha ha jk! But ya that's super cool 'cause you got to spend a lot of good time with Brian!! That's super fun! You gotta take me to Florida a few times too! ha ha

So I'm probably gonna keep this one kinda short cause I will talk to you guys on Sunday! 99% chance we won't be able to do skype. We really don't have anywhere to go to do it (we don't use members computers) and we don't wanna go to our Internet point and pay money on the Sabbath to do so! So ya we just might have to call! But hey that's better then nothing :) Look at the positive! ha ha so ya I'll be calling around 8pm here which is noon there. Man! I'm super excited!!!! ha ha

A little update about the week... It was a pretty rough week. I got sick again :( I think i ate something pretty nasty cause my stomach was having problems all week then I totally died Saturday and Sunday... it was kinda yucky!!! ha ha Not to fun being sick on the mission. ha But now I am feeling way better. I think I just need to eat a bit healthier :) ha ha

Ik has disappeared off the map!!!!! Jis phone is gone and doesn't work and we've passed by his house and he is never there!!!! We don't know what to do.... Only thing we can do really is to keep calling him every once in a while and then just keep moving forward! Since I've been inside lately I've  had so much time to just read the scriptures and study... it's been so amazing I've learned so so much these last couple months!!! Ive absolutely loved my personal study time. It is to bad that we only get one hour a day to do so!!! :( I wish I had more!!!! ha ha But at the same time we've worked with members a lot lately this past week and have been blessed for that!! Once you get there trust and they realize that you really do want to work they will give you referrals!!!!  Columbus gave us a super solid referral!!! ha ha So even though it's kinda been a tough week we are still getting blessed by the Lord! That's what I'm talking about ;)

Well I'm gonna go now and I'll talk to you guys more this weekend!!! We are going to visit Zio  Nicola today!!! Hopefully they made us something super yummy!!! I'll let you know!!! ha ha

Love you guys talk to y'all soon!!!!! :)

UPS AND DOWNS...RIGHT NOW IT'S UPS!

Hey Mom and Dad!!!
What the heck!?!!? Dad and Brian get to go back to Florida? ha Super lucky that's fun! Well I hope it all goes well with the shuttle this time!! ha ha Enjoy your trip! :) Sounds like things are going well for you guys! That makes me happy!

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good Easter! That's awesome! You're exactly right mom, we need to remember Christ, especially during Easter time but a little chocolate never hurts either! And here in Italy we have the best chocolate eggs! Kinder eggs!!!! ha ha :) You guys already know how much I love Kinder! ha ha Man its my favorite. It's so good!!! I'm probably gonna die without it when I get back!

But yes we had a good Easter here too! We went over to the Patene house for lunch. Mario Patene is our ward mission leader and it was also his birthday on Easter too! So we spent that with him and all of his family! There was about 12 of us in total. It was so fun. We had pasta al forno and lasagna and like this sausage stuff and it was just super yummy :)  You know how I love Italian food!!! Man I'm gonna miss it! :) ha ha But ya it was super fun and great! The only bad thing was, that at the end I was feeling like crud and when I got home I checked my temperature, and I had a fever! Super yucky. So I just crashed. I wasn't feeling to good so I rested a bit and  now I feel better so that's good.

Ya the work here is going alright! This last weekend was kinda rough and things didn't go exactly as we planned (they rarely do ha ha) So it was kind of disappointing, but it's OK it happens.

Ik is doing well, we just have a few little bumps in the road that we are gonna help him fix! haha Overall he's doing well! But we really have been working A LOTlately!!! I'm pretty tired, but the Lord has blessed us.

Yesterday we had a really good lesson with this lady name  Ivana and we set up a baptismal date with her too! It was really cool! She seems really solid too! She lost her job which seems like something just terrible and it is kinda rough but now she is able to come to church because she had to work every Sunday. So now she is going to be able to come to church, and find a job that will allow her to still keep coming to church!! The Lord works miracles in very interesting ways sometimes! ha ha

I really liked the pencil story. It was really good! It's true, we are just getting refined until we become what the Lord needs us to be! It was really good thanks for sharing that thought with me!!!

Ya!!!!! thank heavens Mothers Day is soon!!! :) That makes me super happy!!! :) ha ha So we don't exactly know yet.... We want to try to do skype but we don't know if we will be able to! We are trying to see. But one thing that is for sure is that I'll be calling at 8 at night here which is noon for you guys back at home! I hope that works out OK for you guys!!! I'm really excited for that!!! ha ha

It's starting to hit how long 2 years actually is!! ha ha Man it's a while! But its OK. It's normal that there are there ups and downs. ha Thank heavens right now is a little up :) ha ha

Well I love you guys so much!!! I'm glad you got my pics! I hope you guys have a great week!!! I hope I get your guys stuff soon!! It probably won't be until the end of May because that's the next time we have our zone stuff so I still have  some time to wait ha ha

Well I'll let you guys go!!! I hope you guys have a great week!!! I love you guys tons! :) take care! until next time! :)

much love anziano bona!!!

PS.... for skype do you guys have account already? if so what is it?

P-DAY

We have some dear friends who are from Italy.
There son, Simone, has gone back to Italy for the summer
to spend time with the family and learn some Italian.
Simone is staying in Asti, which is near to Alessandria, the second city where Robert served.
So this past p-day Simone took the train and went to Ravenna to see Robert.
They spent about 4 hours together doing some sight seeing and having lunch together.

Simone said that he was the same Robert who loves to laugh and joke around,
however, he said that it was obvious that Robert was a missionary
because he has a different air about him.

He did say that Robert looked well and happy
and the he LOVES his mission, but does miss home.

Thank you Simone for taking the time to go see Robert
and for taking a few pictures and letting us know how he is!
We so appreciate it!

EASTER ISN'T ABOUT CHOCOLATE BUNNIES

Dear Mom and Dad!
Well first off dad can I say that I'm so jealous!!!! ha ha Man I saw the beach when I was in Rimini and remember how bad I wanted to get in it!!! ha ha That's so cool that you and Brian had a good time and that you got to go see some fun stuff! Ya sorry stuff doesn't always turn out the way we always want. That is definitely one thing that I have learned out here!! Mom I'm sorry that you were alone for a bit. You should have thrown a party or something!?!?! ;) ha ha Well by now I think that you guys are all back together now or will be shortly and that's what matters! That is so true family really is the most important thing here. I love my family so much!!!!! :)

That's super chill that you talked with a few of my buddies on facebook! I loved Anziano Shill, he was my district leader for 2 transfers while I was in Alessandria and he was amazing!!! ha ha and Anziano Poulson is definitely one of my best friends that I have made out here! They are great guys! It's so weird that they are home and to think that one day the mission will really end! How crazy. It just seems like I'll be doing this stuff forever. Ha ha

Wow I didn't know about Tanner. Tell him I send my best wishes and that I hope all is ok,  and he can email me if he wants to!

So ya' this last week was super cool. It really was great. It is so nice to have the spirit back in this work. You really can't do it without it!!! It is key. My scambio (exchange) with Anz Dunshee was amazing!!!! We had so much fun and did such good work! Then we chilled in the apartment and were up until almost 2:30 AM  just catching up on everything! OOPS!!!!!  But it was so fun! Then we had the most spiritual comp study I've ever had in my whole mission. It was amazing. And I'm not just saying it because he's my good bud, but it was just crazy. I'm so happy to have him as my zone leader. He is a great example to me!!! I love him :) ha ha So our first d-meeting will be tomorrow and I got something special planned so it will be super fun!!! ha ha

So ya'  the work here is actually moving forward. Slowly but surely. The Africans here are like super cool and love speaking with us. So last Monday I stopped this guy and we started chit chatting for a bit and we set up an appointment with him. So we went to it on Friday and he didn't show!! What a bum huh? Anyways I call him up and set up another one for last night. So we went and taught him last night and it went amazing!!! To make a long story short we invited him to be baptized and he said yes!!!! So if all goes according to plans on May 14 (before next transferes) he should be getting baptized. His name is Ik and he is a baller. He really is a good guy and there was such a good spirit last night!!! I made sure Anz Winegar got to invite him. It's such a great experience for a new missionary to ask and invite someone to do that, and them say yes! He loved it! He was so happy! :) It was chill! And we have other people we are working with so piano piano stuff around here is getting better!!!

So guess what? Right now I'm sitting right across from Simon!!!! ha ha He is here and we are gonna go get lunch and chill for a little but until 2:30ish! It was so cool and nice to see a familiar face! :) ha ha

Man I'm bumbed Brian didn't go on any big roller coasters!! When i get back we are totally gonna do it!!! I swear I will drag him on it with me!!! :) ha ha

Well I love you guys so much! I hope you guys have a great week! Have a great Easter weekend. Don't forget the real meaning of Easter. Ya' the chocolate bunnies are cool but we all gotta remember why we really celebrate it!!! So don't forget!!!
I hope you guys have great week! Miss you guys tons and love you guys tons!!!! :) :)

love you guys!!!!

Anziano Bona

(Robert's letter to Brian)

BRIAN!!!!!!

I love you so much dude!!! Your testimony was so powerful. It really was. I'm so glad you already have a strong testimony at such a young age. That makes me so happy and proud of you!! I love you bro!!!!

Dude it sounds like you had a blast in Florida! I'm super jealous!!! Dude you need to go on the big roller coasters!! When I get back we are gonna go on them together! I can't wait :) I love the beach too that's so cool! we gotta go back there when I get back!

MY NEW COMPANION IS HERE!

Dear Mom and Dad!

Thanks so much for your emails! I really do love them so so much, you have no idea how happy they make me!!! Dad your story was so cool! I loved it! A little worldly prooff to prove the Book of Mormon is really true doesn't hurt! ;)  But the only real way to know if it's true or not is to pray about it and ask and find out personally for ourselves! But thanks for your cool stories, I love them! Keep them coming!!!

Wow you guys are so lucky that you get to go to Florida! That would be so fun! I hope you guys have a great time!! Wow tell Jeffery Ogden congrats for me!!! That's so cool he's gonna have such a good time! He has been called by the Lord so that is really where he is supposed to be! Rough language but I know he can do it! Oh man Anz Bos... what a chill kid! ha ha

So ya I got my new comp!!! His name is Anziano Winegar!! He is from Springville Utah! He graduated in 2010. He loved playing funky computer games before the mission. He played soccer in high school. We are so different but I love it and him!!! I think it so funny! We laugh so so much! And he loves Taylor Swift so he gets bonus points for that too!! ha ha But he is pretty chill! Like I said, we are kinda different but he is so nice! He is so loving! But what I like the most is that he has a great testimony and a great desire to do the work. Once again I get a new kid who is super obedient so that's good! It'll get me back into shape!! ha ha Exactly what I need! ha ha

He kinda struggles with the Italian a bit but that's OK, we are working on that! He's still kinda scared of people a bit and we are working on that also!! :) ha ha It's totally normal. I still get scared sometimes! But he's great and I think we are gonna do some good work together!

We've been super tired this week because we've worked super hard! I haven't worked this hard in a while! It's a big difference from my other comp! I'm a little rusty but its OK, we are doing our best!!!
So... I'm trying to think of cool stories... oh actually I have one! So when I went to Milano to pick up my comp I was talking with Sorrella Ryan (a sister missionary) and we both served in Milano 2 at the same time. We gave her a referral that me and Anziano Strobelt found and taught for a bit. But then while we were teaching her she like just stopped talking to us and wouldn't answer and what not when we would pass by. Anyways her name was Patrizia and we told the sisters that she had great potential and seemed to be super interested, so we told them to stop by and see what was up with her. Then Anz Strobelt and I got transferred. To make a long story short, the sisters got in contact with her and started teaching her again and now she's getting baptized!!!!! yay!!!! So the lady we found is getting baptized in a week or so! So we were super happy about that!!!! It is a team effort out here.

A story a bit on the rougher side is that Cristian dropped us. We were supposed to meet with him Monday to find out what was up and stuff, but he called Monday morning and said he needed a break. Things with him and Francesca weren't going so well and there were things that he needed to fix before he could keep meeting with us....Needless to say we were pretty bumbed about that. But we know we did our part and our best... and we are always here when he wants to come back!!! :)

And yes I love Anziano Dunshee!!! Monday we didn't have district meeting because Tuesday we had interviews. No I didn't get the package.... not yet. I'll probably get it next time!! I'm actually doing a scambio with Anziano Dunshee tomorrow!!!! I'm super stoked for that! It was always our dream to get to work together and now we get to try it out!! ha ha It's gonna be super fun!!!

But ya' I talked with Simone! He sounds like he's doing good! He goes to church out in Alessandria! He is coming down next p-day to chill for a bit! It's gonna be fun, I'm excited!!! Then the p-day after that we think we are going to go to San Marino! But the p-day after that we wanna go see Zio Nicola again! Can you let him know that for me!? Thanks!!!

So ya' things here are going OK! We are on bikes here.... not a fan, but it's what we do! ha ha Now we just have a lot of time to do some good hard finding work so that's what we are gonna be doing this transfer! Hopefully it goes well!!! I know it will!!! It's not gonna' be easy, but it will be worth it!!!

Thanks so much for your emails and for the picture!! I actually sent pics home today so you should be getting some in the next week or so!!! Thanks so much guys! I love you so much and miss you guys tons!!!!!!
Can't wait to hear from you guys next time!!!!

Vi voglio bene :)

CONFERENCE/TIBI CAT/ TRANSFERS...DISTRICT LEADER AND TRAINING AGAIN!

Hello Mom and Dad!

First of all I cant believe you weren't gonna tell me about Tibi!!! :P ha ha I totally needed to know that so I could pray for here too! I'm sorry I know that it's hard.... and it snowed and rained there too? :( dang.... oh well, it's OK things happen. It's just weird thinking that I might never see her again!!! Pretty sad actually but it's OK. I'm sure heaven is a nice place and if it ends up that you don't find her I'm sure she will love it up there!! But ya keep me posted on that....

Dad I loved your stories that you sent me! Wow they were both really powerful!!! And to think that the second one the man who wrote it isn't a member. That dude was like right on!!! ha ha and I loved the Indian one too! It's totally true we need to walk by faith and not sight. I really loved both of them. Thank you so much for those!!!

Ya my weekend was pretty good! Not gonna lie, one of the best ones I've had in a few weeks!! My time with Anz Bos was fun! And its nice to do some work with someone who wants to and knows how!!! ha ha Ya' I'm bummed that he's going home but it's OK. He's done his time. I've learned a lot from him. I'm not sure if he's going to BYU or what. But there is Facebook so we will definitely keep in contact!!

Conference was so amazing as well!!! WOW, it was really so powerful and just what I needed. I was really needing a spiritual boost and man I got it :) The only downer was is that we weren't able to see the last session on Sunday because of the time difference. But besides that I saw all of it. And we got to watch most of it in English as well!! (which is nice!!) ha ha I left my notes in Rimini which isn't good, but I will be getting them back tomorrow so that will be nice! I too loved the one by Uchtdorf about the road to Damascus. It was really powerful. It was totally for Cristian. If someone watches conference with an open heart I'm pretty sure it is impossible to not feel the spirit. All of those talks were inspired and really powerful. I also really liked the one where it talked about hope. I can't remember exactly when it was given or by who but it really stuck out to me! I really liked that one. And then the one by Gonzales of the 70 was really good too! Man just the whole thing was amazing. We were all so lucky to be able to hear the counsel of our leaders. I wish I had my notes so I could tell you guys more of what I liked and stuff but I don't have them on me!!! My bad! Next time for sure! :) But ya' could you guys send me an English copy of the Liahona when it comes out with the talks? That would be really great thanks!!

Oh also could you guys send me some 5 gum and some American deodorant!! That would be lovely!! It's getting pretty hot over here and the deodorant here is terrible and doesn't work to well!!! So those things would be lovely! :)

So ya Cristian came to conference but I only got a chance to talk to him for like a second before he had to leave! He said he liked it.... and I haven't had the chance to meet with him since then because of schedule conflicts!!! And I probably won't be able to see him till next Monday. Hopefully he shows up to church. I talked to him this morning over the phone and he sounded OK! But I'm still not sure exactly how it went!!! I'm praying it was as great for him as it was for me! He was able to see the Sunday morning session which was just amazing. If he watched it with an open heart I know that he would have felt something. So it was overall a great weekend. I had a lot of answers to my prayers this past weekend. It really was a nice experience :)

So about transfers..... :) :) :) :) ha ha Yup you know what that means!!!! Good news!!!!!!  (I know I shouldn't say that, but....) yup Anz Craig is getting transferred. He is going up to Gorizia. It was actually pretty neat how it all worked out. I actually told President Wolfgramm that it would be better for both of us if we were split up, and he told me that he read that email after he had decided to transfer him, so he then knew that it was the right choice to do. And actually I'm going to be training again!!!! Yay!!!! ha ha That should be fun and I'm excited! New kids always have a crazy fire to do missionary work and be super obedient so I'm super excited! I don't think I've ever been more pumped to get out there and do some work!!! It's probably gonna be a bit rough because I'm not super used to it but I'm totally ready for it! I'm super stoked!! Oh and actually I'm going be the new District Leader too. That I'm not to thrilled about (just kidding, I really am) 'cause that just means even more responsibility! haha but I am excited and up to the challange, it will be fun!!! Our district has changed a bit and it will just be us and the zone leaders so that will be sweet!!! I've never had zone leaders in my district before so that will be sweet because I'll be able to do scambios with them! And guess who my new zone leader is.... Anziano Dunshee!!!!!! (My MTC companion) Heck ya!!!! :) I'll get to see him all the time and get to work with him!! So ya I'm super stoked for this next transfer! It's not gonna be easy because there is a lot of work to be done but its gonna be way awesome!!!

So ya' things here are going well! I'll tell you about the new kid next time!! ha ha Well I gotta' go!! I hope you guys have a great week. Remember the counsel that we all received this past weekend. And even better do your guys best to put it into practice!!!! That's the hardest thing for me to do sometimes, but it's the thing that will bless us the most!!

I hope you guys have a good week and find Tibi too!!!
Vi voglio bene tantissimo e sono molto grato per vio!!!!
Siete bravissimi! ;)

PS... tell Anthony to email me back that punk!!! and I'll send picks soon!! love you guys!! :)

LIFE IN THE MISSION

Hello Mom and Dad!!!

How ya' guys doing!? I hope well! That's cool that you guys got a new fridge! Hopefully it works ha! I'm glad Brian likes it. That's so cool, the news about Darian! Good for him! I'm proud of him! He won't regret this choice he's making!!!

And ya I got the info about the card. Once I get it I'll email you guys. What info will I need to send you guys about it? Fammi sapere!!!! Hey you see that! Look at my Italian! Dang I'm good! ;) ha ha (actually I still might have spelled it wrong I'm not sure!) ha ha I can speak like pretty dang good but I can't write it to save my life!!!! That's something I need to work on! ha

So this week for me has been pretty much normal. Nothing really special and nothing much has changed. I'm just doing my best to keep going day by day. Honestly I think we will probably be together another transfer too. I'll let you guys know for sure next week when the call comes.

So that one investigator of ours, Cristian is super chill. I really have come to love this guy! He really is great, and he reminds me of myself a lot. He is still unsure if even God exists but if he does then he really does want a good relationship with him. He has stopped smoking and is piano piano (slowly) reading the BoM. So he is doing pretty good! His girlfriend Francesca is like distancing herself a lot though. She really doesn't have much interest in this stuff. She likes science and that sort of "religion".  Forget science!!!!  But we are still trying to help her out too.

This weekend is like a break it or make it type week with Cristian. He is going to come to Rimini to watch some of conference! We are super stoked about that. He wants to hear the prophet. I know that this is gonna be a good weekend for him! So I am thinking that it would be nice if you guys could keep him in your prayers this weekend too! Thanks!!!

I'm actually looking forward to conference a ton too! I really need a little spiritual boost as well!! So it's coming at a perfect moment! The more I think about it the more I realize how very lucky we all really are to get the chance to listen to the prophet and the apostles. When I get back I want to  go to the one right after! I encourage you guys to watch it too! all of it!!! ;) and do your guys best to pay attention and not pass out on the couch! ha ha

So I'm going have a good weekend  because tomorrow Anz Bos and I are doing a long scambio (splits)!! Because here in Ravenna we can't watch conference so we have to go to Rimini. So from Thursday to Sunday we will be together!! I'm super excited! It'll be nice to get a little break and be with my boy for a bit! The other anziani (my comp and Anz Bos' comp will stay in Ravenna) will be joining us Saturday night. It's crazy that he's done with his mission this transfer though!!! It's weird to see that the mission actually does have an end to it one day!!!

Well overall I'm doing pretty good!! I'm just going along doing the best I can in my situation. Tonight we are going bowling with the ward and some investigators so that will be chill too!

I love you guys so much! Have a great conference weekend! I hope you guys learn a lot!!!
Have a great week!!! Can't wait to hear from you guys next week!

vi voglio bene!!!!!

The spirit is always super strong during it! I'll be watching it out here too! That's so chill that your the deacon's quorom secretary! You better not slack off like I did!! ;)  The Lord trusts you my friend! Do work!!!

MEETING FAMILY!

Hey Mom and Dad!

So maybe I might have given you guys they wrong impression about my companion. It's not that we don't get along cause we get along pretty well. I can get along with anyone that's not the hard part. We laugh and joke around and stuff but just when it's time to do missionary work he just turns off . Our mission is doing this teach to find program, and you need 2 people to do it so it's just hard. I'm still trying to be a good example and what not but I'm just getting a bit tired.... I'm just doing my best to stay up and not let it bring me down.

Yesterday was cool! We went and ate with Zio Nicola and family!!! Oh my heck it was the best food I've ever eaten!! Zia Graziella is an amazing cook! We had tortellini, lasagna, chicken, piadina and  mascarpone for dessert. It was so good!! I loved it!!! :) ha ha Dad, are you jealous!? ;) because you should be! haha Don't worry I took pictures. I think Silvia (cousin) took more but I took some too!

It really was cool to get to know them better! They think we are crazy because we don't have sex before marriage and that we don't drink a lot of stuff. It was very funny. We had some good conversations. I felt it wasn't the time or place to be "too religious" .... it was one my first time talking with them and getting to know them better. We did talk a bit about church but not a whole ton. They are super funny though, and I love them!

Of course right when I saw Zio Nicola he was smoking and at lunch they wanted us to try some wine and Silvia wanted us to go to some dance club with her and some friends ha ha! Of course we said no and explained what missionaries do here and how we have rules that need to be followed. It was cool because they respected all of it, and didn't judge us or anything! They are really good people and way fun!! Plus it was nice to just relax with them and take our minds off the work for a few minutes.

Wow! That's crazy about the calling changes, but you're right they are all going to do great. We have some really amazing people in our ward! We are so lucky to have all of them!

Brian and dad are super lucky to go to Florida!! Good for them! I could totally use a little vacation like that! I guess I'll have to wait a year for that though...busy doing work right now. And mom you'll get some peace and girl time so that'll be good for everyone!! ha ha

Well ya things here are going well! Thanks for your emails they were nice! I'm just pushing along doing my best !

I love you guys thanks for everything!!! Take care and have a great week! :)

P-DAY IN FORLI' WITH FAMILY!!!

We still haven't received Robert's email today because he spent his p-day in Forli' with family members. His Zio Nicola, Zia Graziella, and his cousin Silvia.
They had a wonderful time together talking about past trips, Robert's mission, family, etc. Graziella cooked some wonderful food....(julia child step aside!). They then took the boys around Forli' for a quick sight seeing trip.
Graziella said that Robert's Italian was as good as his mothers' (her words not mine) and that he was happy and laughing and healthy. She said he was doing fantastic.
How truly blessed we are to have family in Italy and that Robert has had the opportunity to spend time with them.

FAREWELL TALK

A lot of people have asked for a copy of Robert's farewell talk, or to post it here on his blog. I had searched everywhere for it and was unable to locate it, until tonight! I was looking through some files on the laptop looking for something else, and actually came across it. So I am posting it now. I know it's a year late, but better late than never!

Good afternoon brothers and sister thank you so much for coming here today to support me. I am especially grateful to my family members and friends that are here today. I love you all and I hope that Spirit of Lord might continue to be here with us.

I would like to share some thoughts regarding the importance of spreading the gospel throughout the world and in our homes.

When Jesus was resurrected he gave to his apostles one special commandment and we can find that in Matthew 28:19 and it says, “Go ye there for and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost”. When people read this scripture they normally just think it is for missionaries, however this invitation is for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ and in his church. Elder Bednar quotes that, “We are missionaries every day in our families, in our schools in our places of employment and in our communities. Regardless of our age, experience, or station in life, we are all missionaries”.

One way that we can all be missionaries is for all of us to be ready. We all need to be ready to feel the promptings of the spirit and to set a good example for those around us. Thankfully I have been blessed to always have good examples all round me throughout my life. I have had the best scout leaders, teachers, friends and of course a great family around me at all times. They have been such great missionaries in my life helping me to be a better person and to gain a testimony. In truth they all follow the invitation of Christ to share the gospel.

The life of my family has been greatly blessed from the result of missionaries sharing the gospel. Without it I wouldn’t even be here today. Many years ago two young men decided to serve a mission and be a tool in the Lords hands. These missionaries found my grandpa and my grandma and taught them the gospel and baptized them. The gospel changed my grandparents lives and their posterity. My grandfather is now one of the strongest members of the church that I know and is an amazing man. He is a living example of what it means to follow Christ. My grandma contributed to save many souls in her family by doing countless hours of genealogical and temple work. Later in his life, after grandma Martha passes away, my grandfather was blessed by continuing the genealogical work in the temple and met my new grandma Lorraine. She is also a living example of what happens when the Gospel is shared and lived.

My mother instead grew up in the church but like me was a bit rebellious at times. Eventually she completely turned her life around and served an honorable full time mission. She is such a great example to me and I am so thankful for that amazing choice she made. My uncle David served a mission in Japan as well. Notice one common fact: all of these events and changes were able to happen because of two young men’s choice to serve a mission and share the gospel.

A similar situation happened in my father’s life as well. In the cold winter of 1980 two young men “by accident” met my grandma Rosaria in Messina. Their faith and desire to serve the Lord started a process that would bless my father’s life and my family life forever. I am so thankful for Elder Moss and Elder Jenkins for the decision they made to share the gospel and to baptize my father and my Nonna Rosaria. I am sure at that time they had no idea how this would impact my future. I am here today ready to serve a mission in the Italy Milan mission also because of their faithful decision to share the gospel more than 30 years ago!

My mom served her mission in the Italy Catania mission and I am sure that she had no idea what the Lord had in store for her. One of the indirect blessings that came from her desire to spread the gospel was the opportunity to meet her future husband. From all of these events we can all see that sharing the gospel blesses not only the people who receive the teachings but also future generations and the ones who are doing the teaching as well.

Some of us might feel inadequate to share the gospel in some way. However the call to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost continues to be true in this dispensation.

In Doctrine and Covenants 90: 10-11 the prophet Joseph Smith received a revelation that said,
“and then cometh the day when the arm of the Lord should be revealed in power in convincing the nations, the heathen nations, the house of Joseph of the gospel of their salvation. For it shall come to pass that in that day that every man shall hear the fullness of the gospel in his own tongue and in his own language through those who are ordained unto this power by the administration of the comforter shed forth upon them for the revelation of Jesus Christ”.

When Heber C. Kimball received the commandment to go to England and be the first missionary called to serve out side North America he felt hesitant and inadequate. In his reaction he said, “o Lord I am a man of stammering tongue and altogether unfit for such a work; how can I go to preach in that land?” However all of these feelings did not stop him from serving a mission. In his own words he said, “ the moment I understood the will of my Heavenly father, I felt a determination to go at all hazards, believing that He would support me by His almighty power, and endow me with every qualification that I needed. I felt that the cause of the truth, the gospel of Christ, outweighed every other consideration.” He was humble and because of that was very successful in sharing the gospel in England. He fulfilled the prophecy given in 1835 to be “zealous to save souls…the Gospel must roll forth and it will until it fills the whole earth….You have a work to do that no other men can do; you must proclaim the Gospel in its simplicity and purity”. And also in D&C 112:5;19 and 21 there’s another example of the prophecy that has come to pass:
“Contend thou, therefore morning by morning; and day after day let thy warning voice go forth; and when the night cometh let not the inhabitants of the earth slumber because of thy speech…I will be with you; and in whatsoever place ye shall proclaim my name an effectual door shall be opened unto you; that they may receive my word”. “and again, I say unto you, that, whosoever ye shall send in my name, by the voice of your brethren, the Twelve, duly recommended and authorized by you, shall have the power to open the door of my kingdom unto any nation whithersoever ye shall send them”.

In 1 Timothy 4:12 it says “Be thou an example of the believers, in word in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” To be able to preach the gospel we need to be living the gospel in all places at home, school, work or even when your just hanging out with your friends. By living the gospel we can not only go on missions but become real missionaries.

In one of Elder Bednar’s talks he states that, “ the single most important thing you can do to prepare for a call to serve is to become a missionary long before you go on a mission. Please notice that in my answer I emphasized becoming rather then going…. The issue is not going to church; rather, the issue is worshipping and renewing covenants as we attend church. The issue in not going to or through the temple; rather the issue is having in our hearts the spirit, the covenants, and the ordinances of the Lord’s house. The issue in not going on a mission; rather the issue is becoming a missionary and serving throughout our entire life with all of our heart might mind and strength. It is possible for a young man to go on a mission and not become a missionary, and this is not what the Lord requires or what the church needs.”

At the same time it is also important to have a gospel sharing home as well. Formal discussions do not need to be held to share the gospel at home. The way our family acts and lives will cause a good spirit in the home and that is the best message you can share with anyone who comes in your home. This in turn will cause testimonies and faith of the parents and children to grow. Creating a gospel sharing home is the easiest and most effective way that we can share the gospel with others. These homes are not necessarily perfect from the world’s point of view. They might not be the cleanest homes or the children might not be the best behaved but they are a place in which family members clearly care and love each other and the spirit of the Lord is felt by those who visit. I am glad and very thankful for the effort of my family to help make our home a better gospel sharing home. It is not perfect by any means but I can certainly tell a major difference in it and I am so thankful for that. It makes my home such a more peaceful and overall better place to live.

One thing about a gospel sharing home is that the members of the family not only pray to bless all the missionaries for their safety and success but they also pray to be prepared so that when they face missionary opportunities they will be ready to act upon those impressions. Having faith is a key component because without that you wouldn’t be able to feel those promptings.

My parents were great examples of this. This past Christmas they just got the feeling that they needed to help out a homeless person. Our family didn’t have a lot of money this holiday season but they just knew that all would be OK and that this is what they needed to do. They went out and bought him new warm shoes and clothes. This was one small way of sharing the gospel without having an official or formal conversation. Just doing a small little act like that can be exactly what someone needs.

Like the Lord says in Matthew 25: 40, “verily I say unto you in as much ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Testimony
